Yesterday was 2 years since Rob died.
We miss him and we honor his memory.
But I feel we are all in a place of healing now and we had a good day yesterday.
On the anniversary of such a horrible day, we certainly found lots of joy!
Because of an appointment (Mama's dental implant appointment Thursday) and a church trip (youth trip to Scarowinds at Carowinds today), we could not do like last year and go on an overnight or longer trip but I still wanted a family day with my children on the anniversary of their dad's death.
So we did a day trip.
I had heard about a Lego art exhibit at The Children's Museum and the Captain White House where we used to live. We watched the museum being built but it did not open until last October - after we had moved away - and we all wanted to see how it turned out. And anyone who knows us knows that Luke LOVES Legos. We headed there. (I wish this place had been there 6 years ago when we moved there and my kids were younger - we would have been frequent visitors).
It was raining, of course. It rained on all of Rob's and our family's important days - from the wedding day to Rob's funeral day.
Crystol happened to call me back while we were there so we all took turns talking with her. It was the closest we could be to being all together - Rob's children and me.
We stayed on the phone with Crystol for over an hour. It was like she was touring and playing with us : )
Anna and Wesley were really too old for the Children's Museum part and Luke is almost. But they made the best of it by playing some with him and looking at photos on Wesley's phone when they were bored and Luke was still playing.
Luke's favorite thing was the beanstalk he could climb.

It was Luke's turn to choose a restaurant. He chose Japanese.
We all love Japanese. And I loved his choice - until we got there and they seated us right beside this booth.
Rob and I were seated in this booth when we went on a date (just the 2 of us) 5 days before he died.
It was the only time during the entire day that tears fell - as memories of that last date flooded my mind.
I blessed the food through a few tears while thanking God for Rob's life and for taking care of us since his death -
and we had a great meal.

Wesley had his normal pizza and sweet and sour chicken -
and then he tried a frog leg (after pretending to kick Anna's arm with it - so, so funny but maybe you really had to be there and see and hear Anna's reaction to think that).
Luke is still piling everything on until he decides what he likes!
After some shopping - clothes for Anna and video games for the boys - we ended the day by getting frozen yogurt.
It really was a great family day. One we all enjoyed.
