A 30th Birthday

I was honored to be a guest last night at one of my former student's 30th birthday dinner.

It was wonderful seeing this young woman again
and catching up on where her life has taken her
since I was her teacher in her 3rd and 4th grade years.

So hard to believe that was 20 years ago!!!!

I enjoyed getting to meet her husband
and spending time with her parents again.

We had a great time!

And it was so special to be included!

Happy Birthday, Tina!

Reality

Dear my Rob,

This is the 5th year…yet it is still so hard to fathom that the reality of my Christmas Eve does not include you being the one to serve Christmas Eve Communion to our children and me

but instead it includes our children and me visiting your grave.

I miss you.

Love, Janna

They're Here!

We are all thrilled to have my oldest,
Crystol, and her husband, Alan
here for Christmas!

They couldn't believe how much her siblings have grown!

Made me think of when she was still the tallest.

It was 2007 but it seems like just yesterday...

Luke Is 13!

My Luke is 13 today.

Which means I live in a house full of teenagers now!

Today, we celebrated with a movie

and Luke’s favorite meal.

On Thanksgiving Day, our extended family celebrated my Luke
with a cake that I made for him.

We have one more party to go when Luke’s
oldest sister (Crystol) and brother-in-law (Alan) are in town,
but the annual birthday call from Crystol came around lunchtime
and Alan texted this evening!

Luke has had fun celebrating his entry into the teen years
and I have had fun watching him.

As a matter of fact,
I have had fun watching my Luke from the start.

At the very beginning.

At his first art show.

(So I obviously had on heels in this photo -
I wasn't THAT much taller than my Rob)!

When I catch sight of his free-hand drawings.

He is so very talented.

(And he’s the only kid I have who actually likes math).

Luke,
my love for you
is beyond measure.

I am so happy that God chose your dad and me to be your parents.

You were planned
and wanted
and loved
by both of your parents.

To the day your dad died, he loved you and wanted the best for you.
In fact, his last words were to tell Wesley and you,

“I love you.”

And I am so blessed now that I have the privilege of watching you grow.

You are wonderful to watch, young man!

I am so happy and blessed that I get to be your mama!

And I look so forward to many more years
of watching you
and loving you beyond measure!

Happy 13th Birthday, Luke Edward!

I love you!

Mama
