Before my stepdaughter, Crystol, came into my life, there was another Crystal first.
I started babysitting Crystal Leigh when I was 15 years old.
She was 5, I think.
She once chose to stay with me on one of my days off from college instead of going to see
"Big Bird" in Sesame Street Live.
She said,
"I can see Big Bird any time.
I can't see Janna just any time."
I'll never forget that. We had a great day that day!
Crystal's birthday is today, January 1st.
I babysat her, along with her siblings and many more children, every New Year's Eve. So we always celebrated her birthday at midnight at the first minute of her birthday.
I have so many good memories of spending New Year's Eve and New Year's Day with her
(because the kids usually spent the night).
I remembering apologizing to her for having my wedding on her birthday.
Crystal is now grown, married, and has a son of her own.
But when I think of her, this is what I remember.
Happy Birthday, Crystal Leigh!
Thank you for all of the good memories of all of the New Year's Eves and
New Year's Days/birthdays with you!
And thanks so much for your support and encouragement since Rob's death.
I love you.
Always have.
Always will.
