It was unusually warm 5 years ago today.
It was 6 days before Rob died.
Of course, we didn't know he was going to die.
We were just thinking about making the summer days last as long as possible.
If memory serves me correctly,
Rob had an early morning meeting,
a lunch meeting,
and an evening meeting that day.
We had invited some friends over to swim in our backyard pool at the parsonage.
Rob swam with us for about an hour and a half
after his morning meeting
and before his lunch meeting.
after his morning meeting
and before his lunch meeting.
After our guests had to go home and Rob got back from his lunch meeting,
we then headed to our friend's in ground pool for a couple more hours of swimming.
He spent a lot of his time pretending to be a shark chasing the kids in their boats.
And, even though I'm not in any of the photos,
he and I spent a lot of time swimming together that day too.
We knew it was the last day of "summer" that we would have to swim.
What we didn't know then was that it really was the last day ever
that we would have to swim together.
we then headed to our friend's in ground pool for a couple more hours of swimming.
He spent a lot of his time pretending to be a shark chasing the kids in their boats.
And, even though I'm not in any of the photos,

We knew it was the last day of "summer" that we would have to swim.
What we didn't know then was that it really was the last day ever
that we would have to swim together.
It was the last time my children's father would swim with them.
But we didn't know that then...
...so it was another happy day,
