We spent last weekend in the mountains for Smyrna United Methodist Church's
annual youth ski trip
(which is also open to the entire church).
The kids had a great time
and I had a great time
watching them have a great time!
The group is spread out over many cabins with the youth group (along with chaperones) staying in 1 big cabin.
This is the cabin where Luke and I stayed.
I love the cabins but I hate the road leading up to and down from them!
Fun with our cabin mates and visitors.
Breakfast at the Daniel Boone Inn.
It was delicious, as it always is!
(Obviously, I was too busy eating the food to take a photo of it).
We left there to go snow tubing.
After tubing, we went to the mountain to ski.
I didn't ski.
I just took pictures and had fun using the zoom lens I bought myself for Christmas!
The church reserves the "cloud room" in the ski lodge for all of us to hang out in for the entire day.
The kids (and adults who ski) go in and out all day;
skiing and resting,
eating and skiing,
and playing and eating.
The preacher even "let" Colton flip him over and over.
For the entire day and into the night my kids enjoyed skiing.
Literally, my kids (and others) closed down the slopes at 12 midnight.
Actually, they "didn't hear" the closing announcement and they really were not off of the slopes until 12:15.
It was a very long, very fun day.
On Sunday morning, church is held at the youth cabin and is led by the youth.
It is a special time.
After church, a few photos with a great (even if a little foggy) backdrop!
My beautiful senior. Still hard to believe she is a senior this year!
After packing up, we headed downtown for the annual stop at the candy store
where my kids filled their baskets with candy...
and I grabbed my grape Nehi
(which always brings back memories of childhood vacations to the mountains).
Since I was driving and Rhonda was riding with me, we decided to go back to the Daniel Boone Inn for lunch. I had not eaten lunch or dinner there since 1991 or 1992 when I took my Grandma Beck and other family members there after a day of looking at the fall leaves. I wanted to go back and so did Rhonda. It made me miss my Grandma Beck but it was nice to go back. And the food was what I remembered!
From the beginning of the trip
to the end,
we were very blessed.
With safe travels,
great fun,
wonderful weather,
great fun,
worshipful church service,
great fun,
delicious food,
and great fun!
As Luke said,
"Mom, the ski trip really is just awesome!"
